On Tour(isms). Lost in Mobility Discourses

Michael Zinganel will examine the role of tourism and migration in a transnational mobility continuum. These are understood not just as antipodes of a liquid modernity (Bauman) between necessity and free will, but as parallels and opposing movements, which can also be characterized by the entanglements and dependencies connecting them.

Michael Zinganel lives and works as freelance architecture theorist, cultural historian, curator and artist in Graz and Vienna. Most recently he worked on various aspects of urban and transnational mobility, contemporary mass tourism and migration, both on a micro- and macro-political level.
